Akela Amador (b. 14 June 1983) is a former field agent with the Strategic Homeland Intervention Enforcement and Logistics Division; she was trained by Phil Coulson.

Early lifeEdit

Akela is a former S.H.I.E.L.D agent who was trained by Phillip Coulson. Seven years prior to "Eye-Spy", she was sent on a mission with two other S.H.I.E.L.D. agents and disobeyed Coulson's orders. They got into a heated argument and Akela led the mission which went catastrophically wrong. Akela disappeared and S.H.I.E.L.D. assumed she was dead.

During the mission, she was caught in a fire fight and got shot. When she woke up she was in a triage bay and blind in her left eye. Her captors soon imprisoned her inside a cage at the bottom of a copper mine. She spent four years alone in that cage until one day a team of trained men, who she assumed were from S.H.I.E.L.D. but now presumed to be affiliated with the Centipede Group , appeared and took her to an unknown clinic.

Here she had multiple surgeries performed on her until finally she could see out of both eyes. Her captors then let her go and she was relieved to be free, but later she discovered they implanted a camera inside her new prosthetic eye which allowed them to see everything she saw. Also, she learned when she closed her eyes the camera gave her both x-ray and night vision. Later, she started receiving text messages via the eye camera and if she didn't do what the message said she'd receive a painful electric shock.

Her handler ordered her to steal diamonds and gave her specific times, places, and other details on how to commit the robbery. She robbed an armored car in Milan, a safe in Monte Carlo, and a security escort in Stockholm stealing over $30 million in diamonds in total.

Coulson's team tracked her to Belarus where she was instructed to trade the stolen the diamonds to a man in exchange for an access card to the Todorov building where her handler would take a picture of the equations the scientists there were working on.

However, before she could complete her mission May and Coulson confronted her and knocked her out to take her back to the Bus. To keep her handler from activating the fail-safe (detonating the camera thereby killing her) Skye hacked into the camera's signal so her and Ward could complete her mission for her while Fitz and Simmons removed her eye camera.

After her eye camera was removed and Skye and Ward completed her mission, Coulson was able to track down her handler. However, it was discovered Akela's handler had an eye camera as well and as soon as Coulson showed him his badge his eye camera exploded and he died.

Akela was last seen being taken into custody by S.H.I.E.L.D. agents with Coulson promising her that she'll receive a fair trial and he'll testify for her. As she was leaving, she asked May what they did to Coulson to make him change.

In "The Bridge" it is revealed that the Centipede Group built her 'eye-bomb', thus linking her to the expanding web of developments.

Identical technology is implanted in Mike Peterson at the end of "The Magical Place".

  • Her ID badge serial number is A 9632284; the card was issued on 21 July 2004 and expired on 21 July 2009.
  • Akela's birthday is June 14, 1983
  • The symbols written on the blackboard that Amador was supposed to take a picture were identical to the symbols Garret and Coulson were carving because of GH.325. More than likely they were drawn by another T.A.H.I.T.I. patient and Dr. Whitehall wanted a picture of them as part of research on the Diviner.
