William "Bill" Paxton (May 17, 1955 – February 25, 2017) was an American actor first spotted by many people in the 1981 Bill Murray - Harold Ramis comedy Stripes, as an eager young soldier.

His over eighty screen credits included Westerns like Tombstone, and Frank & Jesse, as well as action films like True Lies and Twister and a role in Titanic. On TV he was probably best known as Bill Henderson, the protagonist of Big Love, and for the Training Day series. He passed away due to complications during surgery at age 61.
