"Don't touch Lola."
Phil Coulson[src]

Lola is a red hovercapable 1962 Chevrolet Corvette belonging to, and constantly cared for by, Director of S.H.I.E.L.D. Phil Coulson and bears a California license plate reading 381 PCE.

"Lola's not just a collectible, you know. People tend to confuse the words new and improved."
―Agent Coulson to Agent Ward, about Lola[src]

Lola is a fully restored S.H.I.E.L.D. collectible. A 1962 Chevrolet Corvette with modifications based on designs and technologies developed by Howard Stark, Lola is flight capable (VTOL) and equipped with flamethrowers and the world's first GPS system. She clearly holds considerable sentimental value for Agent Coulson. "Don't touch Lola", directed primarily at lower level functionaries, has become something of a mantra, repeated by Skye to a S.H.I.E.L.D. tech when Coulson himself is missing in "The Magical Place".

Lola originally belonged to Coulson's father, Robert, and the two men had worked on restoring the car together when Phil was a young man. Coulson claims it was the endless hours side by side which eventually brought him to the realization that Lola was "the most beautiful thing I'd ever seen." It is not known exactly when Phil inherited the car or when the Stark enhancements were made. (Love in the Time of Hydra)

When not in use, Lola is seen parked in the cargo bay of the Bus next to the S.H.I.E.L.D. MDX. Anyone boarding the Bus will walk between Lola and the MDX to greet the S.H.I.E.L.D. agents.

In "Seeds" Agents Coulson and May use Lola to find former S.H.I.E.L.D. agent, Richard Lumley who had information about Skye's past. Upon seeing Coulson and May, Lumley flees but Coulson activates Lola's flying capabilities to show him that he and May were S.H.I.E.L.D.

In "Yes Men" Coulson uses Lola to meet Agent Jasper Sitwell .

In "Turn, Turn, Turn" the cargo bay of the Bus is forced open by S.H.I.E.L.D. agents under Victoria Hand's orders, thinking Coulson was a Hydra agent. Lola wasn't damaged during the raid on the Bus.

During the events when Hydra takes over S.H.I.E.L.D. , Skye is captured by Deathlok and Grant Ward, causing Coulson to board the Bus to rescue her. After doing so, Deathlok and Ward pursue, only to have Skye and Couslon jump (literally) into Lola, then driving her out of the cargo bay ramp, falling and hovering down to the surface. Lola's windscreen is damaged by Ward's fire and her wheels ignite at only the last second but Lola appears to be fine. Skye nearly falls out of the car when she doesn't buckle up but Coulson pulls her back into Lola. When on the ground, a man asks Coulson to pay for parking.

Later, Maria Hill says that "she can't believe that they (Ward and Deathlok) shot Lola". Coulson replies with "I can't talk about it", implying that he was upset by the damage.

Powers and TechnologyEdit

"One of Coulson's old S.H.I.E.L.D. collectibles. Flamethrowers, world's first GPS. He's mad for this crap."
Leo Fitz[src]

Flying Capabilities - Lola is a hovercapable car but doesn't always work when needed, as demonstrated in "Nothing Personal ".

Guns - Guns can extend out of Lola's headlights, as seen in "Nothing Personal".

Bulletproof Windshield - Lola's windshield is made of bulletproof glass, as shown in "Nothing Personal".

Flamethrower - Lola is equipped with a flamethrower. However, as of yet, it has not been seen in the series.

GPS- Lola is apparently equipped with the world's first GPS. It has not yet been seen in the show.

Lola has several other buttons which supposedly have functions. Most of the equipment Lola possesses was designed by Howard Stark.

  • In "Pilot," Lola is shown with a red hardtop (apparently an optional, and possibly aftermarket, add-on for a 62 'Vette) and the license plate 681 PCE. In later episodes the license plate reads 381 PCE and no top, whether hard or soft, is seen again.
  • In "Captain America: The First Avenger" Howard Stark is shown with a flying car but this isn't Lola (see comments below). This Stark Industries technology is, however, at the core of Lola's capabilities.
  • Lola has only been seen being driven by Coulson and Skye.
